I SAY: Tim Burton's Corpse Bride GOOD NEWS!!... ![]() Tim Burton is releasing a new stop-motion animated feature film named "Tim Burton's Corpse Bride". It's pretty much like The Nightmare Before Christmas. Very dark and gothic but then it wouldn't be his style if it wasn't. Can't wait for it to be released here. Basically the story is set in a 19th century European village, where Victor (voiced by Johnny Depp who's also starring in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory), a young man who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious Corpse Bride (voiced by Helena Bonham-Carter: Big Fish), while his real bride, Victoria (voiced by Emily Watson: Punch-Drunk Love), waits bereft in the land of the living. Eventhough life in the Land of the Dead proves to be a lot more colorful than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor learns that there is nothing in this world, or the next, that can keep him away from his one true love. This is a tale of optimism, romance and a very lively afterlife, that is told in a classic Tim Burton style. ![]() Corpse Bride & Victor (Click to preview the trailer) Well, the Corpse Bride is a story based on actual events that occurred in 19th century Russia, when anti-semitism was widespread in eastern Europe. Very often bands of anti-semites would waylay a Jewish wedding party on their way to the wedding. And because the bride would be the one to bear future generations, she would be ripped out of the carriage and murdered and then be buried in her wedding gown. How horrific! ![]() |
